The Challenge
As the U.S. Army’s Next Generation Squad Weapon (NGSW) program evolved, it required a weapon storage solution capable of supporting the M7 Rifle (formerly designated the XM7), the newly introduced XM8 Carbine, and the M250 Automatic Rifle. Existing weapon racks were not optimized for these platforms’ updated dimensions, integrated suppressors, and evolving requirements, creating the need for a purpose-built storage solution.
In addition to developing a compatible storage solution, the Army needed a product that could be efficiently procured through established military supply channels, allowing units and government agencies to quickly identify, order, and replenish the equipment.

The Solution
Tacform partnered with engineers at Picatinny Arsenal to develop a purpose-built weapon storage solution engineered specifically for the Army’s evolving NGSW platform.
Working closely with Army stakeholders, Tacform designed a Bi-Fold Weapon Rack featuring a newly engineered tapered barrel saddle that securely accommodates the NGSW family of weapons while providing clearance for their suppressors. Throughout the development process, the design was refined to ensure compatibility with current weapon configurations while maintaining the durability, modularity, and operational efficiency required for military armories. The finished solution also integrates seamlessly with Tacform’s existing line of weapon storage systems.
Once finalized, the product was assigned a National Stock Number (NSN), making it available through the Defense Logistics Agency’s procurement system. By obtaining an NSN, military units and government agencies can quickly identify, order, and replenish the product using standardized purchasing procedures, simplifying procurement and improving acquisition efficiency.

The Result
The completed project delivered a purpose-built weapon storage solution ready to support the Army’s evolving Next Generation Squad Weapon program.
By combining a custom-engineered Bi-Fold Weapon Rack with an innovative suppressor-compatible barrel saddle and an assigned National Stock Number, Tacform made it easier for military organizations to procure a storage solution designed specifically for the Army’s next generation of small arms. As the NGSW program continues to evolve, Tacform’s modular design provides a durable, mission-ready storage solution while expanding the company’s growing portfolio of NSN-listed products supporting military and federal agencies.
