The Problem
The 21st Special Tactics Squadron at Pope Army Airfield had outgrown its existing armory.
The unit’s weapons inventory had expanded beyond the available rack space, and new weapons continued arriving with nowhere to securely store them. At the same time, damaged and outdated weapon racks were no longer meeting the operational demands of the unit. The overcrowded layout made inventories slower, weapon issuance less efficient, and increased the risk of failed inspections.
The squadron needed more than additional storage capacity. They needed an armory designed around the way their operators actually worked, with room to support both current requirements and future growth.

The Solution
Tacform began the project with an on-site assessment to evaluate the unit’s workflow, existing storage system, and long-term operational requirements.
Using those findings, our team developed a completely redesigned armory layout and produced a detailed 3D rendering that allowed the customer to review the proposed design, collaborate on refinements, and approve the final layout before installation began. This planning process ensured every square foot of the armory was optimized for storage capacity and operational efficiency.
The collaboration extended beyond the room layout itself. Tacform worked directly with the unit to determine how every weapon would be stored inside each Bi-Fold Weapon Rack. Using our Bi-Fold Weapon Racks, modular back panel system, and configurable components, every storage position was customized to match the unit’s workflow. Operators wanted each carbine paired with its corresponding handgun, creating a dedicated location for every complete weapon set. We also engineered each rack to accommodate mounted optics, lights, and other accessories without overcrowding adjacent storage positions. The result was a clean, organized storage system that provides secure weapon retention while allowing fast, reliable access to mission-critical equipment.
Once the design was finalized, Tacform handled delivery, installation, testing, and site cleanup from start to finish, minimizing downtime and allowing the armory to return to full operation as quickly as possible.

The Results
The completed armory transformed both storage capacity and day-to-day operations.
The new system provided secure storage for the unit’s entire weapons inventory while leaving ample room for future expansion. Every weapon now has a dedicated location, improving organization, simplifying inspections, and creating a cleaner, more accountable armory.
The customized rack configuration also significantly reduced inventory time and accelerated weapon issuance. By organizing complete weapon sets in dedicated storage positions, operators can quickly locate and retrieve the equipment they need without searching through overcrowded racks. What was once an overcrowded, inefficient armory is now a scalable, mission-ready workspace designed around the operational needs of the 21st Special Tactics Squadron.
